The Churup Lagoon is a classic destination in Huaraz for day hikes or acclimatization. It is one of the emblematic places of the mountain range due to its scenic beauty. It is located in the Cordillera Blanca east of the city of Huaraz, at the foot of the Churup snow-capped mountain.

Nevado Ulta chico 

Initial altitude: 4800 MASL – Maximum altitude: 5250 MASL 

The Ulta Chico is a mountain that offers an accessible and fun experience for those who wish to acclimatize and perform technical climbing for the first time on a wall since it does not present great difficulties, it has 3 slopes of 60° – 65° which makes it ideal to gain experience in ice climbing technique.

Huaraz -Yanapacha- Campo Base

Initial altitude: 4700 MASL – Maximum altitude: 4900 MASL

Yanapaccha is one of the preparatory mountains for attempting to climb higher peaks in the Cordillera Blanca. It rises above the Llanganuco Valley, near Mount Pisco and Chopicalqui. Although Yanapaccha is only slightly lower than Pisco, it is moderately more challenging to climb. The view from its summit is one of the most beautiful in the entire mountain range.

Campo base Yanapacha – Cumbre – Campo base Chopicalqui 

Initial altitude: 4900 MASL / Altitud máxima: 5460 MSNM / Altitud final 4:400 MSNM 

We will begin our ascent at 2:00 AM, traversing a moraine to reach the broad glacier. Then we will climb the 180-meter face (50-60°) to the summit. From there, we will have a spectacular view, including the snow-capped peaks of Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Pisco, Huandoys, and others. Afterward, we will begin our descent along a ridge overlooking Chacraraju, back to the moraine, and continue to kilometer 42 where we will...Wait for our transport to drop us off at the entrance to Chopicalqui.

Rest at Chopicalqui Base Camp 4200 MASL 

A quiet day at base camp, resting and recovering from the previous ascents.  

Campo base- Campo morrena 4900 MSNM

Initial altitude: 4400 m above sea level - Maximum altitude: 4900 m above sea level

Once again, another day of moderate physical exertion awaits us, taking us up the glacial moraine to 4,900 meters, the location of the Chopicalqui Moraine Camp. Along the way, we'll be able to see the snow-capped peaks of Huascarán, Pisco, Huandoy, and Chacraraju—a true feast for the senses. At the campsite, we'll settle into our tents and rest.

Campo morrena – Campo 1 -5350 msnm 

Initial altitude: 4900m above sea level – Maximum altitude: 5350m above sea level

The day before the summit attempt. We'll begin by hiking across the rocky moraine, then continue onto the glacier and snow. We'll reach High Camp at 5,300 meters, where we'll set up camp on the glacier. The views from up here are spectacular for mountain lovers; the Huascarán peak will be a constant companion throughout our trek, creating moments that will be etched in our memories. 

Campo 1 – Cumbre 6354 m. Campo morrena

Initial altitude: 5350 m above sea level – Maximum altitude: 6354 m above sea level 

This day will be the most demanding of all. We'll begin hiking at dawn, around 1:00 AM. The ascent to the summit will take approximately 6-7 hours. From the top, at 6,345 meters, in the heart of the most spectacular area of ​​the Cordillera Blanca, we'll be able to admire the majestic peaks such as Huandoy, Quitaraju, Pisco, Chacraraju, Yanapaccha, and Artesonraju—undoubtedly the ideal reward for any mountaineer. Afterward, we'll begin our descent following the same route. We may need to rappel down some sections to facilitate our progress.

Campo morrena – Huaraz

Initial altitude: 4900 m above sea level – Maximum altitude: 3000 m above sea level

We will continue our descent along the same route we ascended in previous days, passing by Chopicalqui Base Camp. We will continue until we reach the road where the bus will pick us up to take us back to Huaraz, where we will officially conclude the expedition with a delicious dinner and a toast.

It is important to complete the basic workshop on the rocks of Suesca; this will give you a real overview of climbing, allowing you to build a foundation for hiking on moraines and progressing to low-level climbs. 

• All details will be shared once you accept the generated proposal. 

• It is also valid to acclimatize on your own; the most important thing is to have a prior acclimatization plan (climbing above 5000 meters above sea level).
